Texas Tech prepared to fire Head Coach Mike Leach with cause?

The recent situation regarding Mike Leach and Texas Tech could be coming to a head shortly, ESPN.com’s Joe Schad is reporting.

People close to the situation tell Schad, reporting on the network’s Outside the Lines show this afternoon, that the university is prepared to fire the suspended head coach with cause in the next 48 hours.

Leach’s attorney told OTL that the school can do whatever it wants, but it’s his contention that his client did not breach his contract and intimated that they would take whatever legal recourse was available to them whether Tech decides to dismiss Leach 48 hours from now or 48 days from now. Urban Meyer stepping down as Florida Gators Head Football Coach because of Health Concerns

Urban Meyer is stepping down as coach at Florida because of health concerns that came to light when he was admitted to a hospital because of chest pains following the Southeastern Conference championship game.

The 45-year-old Meyer resigned Saturday, calling it quits after five seasons in Gainesville and two national titles. He leaves Florida with a 56-10 record that includes a 32-8 mark in league play and a school-record 22-game winning streak snapped early this month against Alabama. Continue reading

Three U.S.C. Trojans ineligible for Emerald Bowl against the Boston College Eagles

Tight end Anthony McCoy and tackle Tyron Smith, both starters, and defensive end Averell Spicer, a key reserve, will not play Dec. 26 in San Francisco.

McCoy and Spicer are seniors. Smith is a sophomore.

The Trojans (8-4) are coming off their worst season since 2001. USC had won seven consecutive Pac-10 championships and played in seven consecutive BCS games before this season.
